The ridership records keep coming. Amtrak's three state-supported routes in California registered all-time-high passenger counts in July, collectively carrying more than half a million passengers.
Ridership on the San Jose-San Francisco/Oakland-Sacramento-Auburn Capitol Corridor jumped almost 33 percent compared with July 2007's count, topping 160,000 passengers.
In addition, ridership on the San Francisco/Oakland-Sacramento-Bakersfield San Joaquins service rose 32 percent to more than 100,000 passengers. The San Diego-Los Angeles-San Luis Obispo Pacific Surfliner service boosted ridership 12 percent to more than 300,000.
