Metrolink completes crossing upgrades in Glendale

advertisement

Earlier this week, Metrolink opened its first crossing featuring new safety features as part of the agency's Sealed Corridor Program. Aimed at upgrading all crossings within a corridor, the program is designed to prevent motorists from driving around gates, enhance pedestrian safety and eliminate traffic congestion at or near crossings.

Located in Glendale, Calif., the crossing is one in a series of 120 crossings slated for improvements in San Fernando Valley, and Ventura and Orange counties. Funded by the city of Glendale, the $5 million project included the addition of quad gates, raised concrete medians, pedestrian gates and channelization devices, advanced signal pre-emption and dedicated turn lanes.

During the next several years, Metrolink plans to compete other crossing improvement in the Glendale/Los Angeles corridor as funding becomes available.
