On Saturday, Sound Transit launched Link light-rail service between downtown Seattle and Tukwila, Wash. To mark the occasion, the agency provided free rides all weekend.

Sound Transit has spent the past few years building the 14-mile Seattle-to-Tukwila line. By year’s end, the agency plans to open a 1.7-mile Link extension to Sea-Tac International Airport. A temporary bus shuttle will connect light-rail passengers from the Tukwila station to the airport until the extension is completed.

Sound Transit will operate Link trains between 5 a.m. and 1 a.m on weekdays and Saturdays (with slightly less frequency on Saturdays), and between 6 a.m and midnight on Sundays and holidays.
