The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) recently expanded its portfolio of transportation indicators by adding a table on freight-rail yields. The monthly table will tabulate freight railroads’ revenue per ton-mile.
The total number of transportation indicators tracked by BTS will increase to 21. In addition, tables for revenue passenger-miles and load factors, which previously appeared separately, have been combined into new files for Amtrak revenue passenger-miles and load factor, and U.S. airline revenue passenger-miles and load factor.
Other BTS transportation indicators include Amtrak on-time performance; Amtrak ridership; Amtrak ticket prices and yields; highway retail diesel prices; rail fuel price; transit ridership; transportation employment; the Transportation Services Index; and U.S. surface transportation trade with Canada and Mexico.
