Miami Metrorail extension renamed AirportLink
advertisement
Miami-Dade Transit's Metrorail extension project has a new name. Formerly known as the Miami Intermodal Center-Earlington Heights Connector, the 2.4-mile project scheduled to open in spring 2012 now will be known as AirportLink.
The rail extension, which entered the construction phase in May 2009, will run from Metrorail’s existing Earlington Heights station to the Miami Intermodal Center, a centralized transportation hub under construction at the airport.
A local half-cent sales tax is providing the majority of the funding for the $526 million AirportLink, with the Florida Department of Transportation contributing $100 million.
