Ridley Terminals anticipates a cargo-handling record in 2010

Ridley Terminals Inc. (RTI) is on pace to set a cargo-handling record this year, Canadian transportation and terminal officials announced on Aug. 17. Through 2010’s first half, RTI handled 3.9 million tons of bulk products, including 3.3 million tons of coal.

The federal government-owned terminal operates as a commercial entity on land leased from the Prince Rupert Port Authority. RTI operates a bulk-handling terminal that loads coal and other bulk commodities from unit trains onto ships at the port.

This year, RTI plans to upgrade its facility and equipment to expand business and improve asset utilization. The terminal will acquire a new ship-loading cab and dedicated wood pellet ship-loading chute, replace one of two aging dozers, and launch an extensive structural repair and specialized painting program.
