LACMTA begins geotechnical tests for regional connector project
advertisement
On Monday, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) began conducting geotechnical tests at several locations along the planned alignment of the downtown L.A. Regional Connector project.
The initial tests, which will continue the next two weeks, will analyze soil, noise and vibration to determine subsurface conditions prior to excavation and construction.
The Regional Connector project will serve as a 1.9-mile underground connection for the Gold, Blue and Exposition light-rail lines. LACMTA is in the process of completing a final EIS/EIR, which is expected to be adopted by 2011’s end. Construction is slated to begin in 2014.
