advertisement
Next week, Metrolink plans to roll out its new rail cars during a whistle stop tour throughout southern California.
The agency has ordered 137 passenger cars from Hyundai Rotem and is touting them as “the safest fleet in the nation,” according to a press release.
The cars will feature: crush zones that absorb impact at each end of the car; enhanced bumpers to absorb, balance and dissipate force in case of a collision; couplers that absorb energy to help keep cars in line and upright; reconfigured seat placement in each car; and inward- and outward-facing video cameras.
