The Andersons to expand Michigan ethanol plant
The Andersons Inc. announced yesterday that it will begin an expansion of its ethanol facility in Albion, Mich.
The expansion project will double the facility's capacity, Anderson officials said in a press release. The facility is served by Norfolk Southern Railway.
"The supply and demand situation in Michigan relative to corn and ethanol is very favorable," said Chief Executive Officer Pat Bowe in a press release. "Advancements in farm practices and technology continue to increase the size of Michigan's corn crop and enhance its quality."
That dynamic, combined with the Albion facility's "highly efficient operations," makes the expansion a "compelling investment" for the company, Bowe added.
Managed and operated by The Andersons, the facility in Albion is co-owned by Marathon Petroleum Corp.
