Norfolk Southern Railway has expanded the portfolio of rail-served industrial sites available through its REDI Sites program.
Now, 24 sites with REDI Site designations are spread throughout the Class I’s 22-state network, NS officials said in an online article.
The REDI Sites program is designed to prioritize high-potential locations for rail-served industrial growth.
“In partnership with local, regional and utility stakeholders, we invest in development-ready sites that align infrastructure with market demand, empowering companies to make fast-tracked, confident and informed location decisions,” NS officials said.
Through a collaboration with the Site Selectors Guild, NS validates top sites using the REDI Sites national standard, which is the first of its kind to rigorously assess infrastructure, feasibility, ownership and workforce readiness, they said.
The latest designations from the Site Selectors Guild include the Shoals Research Airpark in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, as the sole platinum-level listing; Claremont International Rail Park in Claremont, North Carolina, among seven gold-level properties; Ecorse & Belleville Road Rail Park in Belleville, Michigan, among three silver-level sites; and an industrial site in Fostoria, Ohio, among two bronze-level locations.
