Norfolk Southern Corp.'s board yesterday elected Richard Anderson as chair. He succeeds Claude Mongeau, who resigned earlier this month citing personal reasons.
Anderson will also chair the board's Executive Committee and the Strategy and Planning Committee, NS officials said in a press release.
Anderson joined the board in May 2024. He is the former CEO and executive chairman of Delta Airlines, president of Optum Health, CEO of Northwest Airlines and, most recently, president and CEO of Amtrak.
"Since the very beginning of his time on our board, Richard has contributed deep, experience-based business insight and a collaborative style that has helped drive cohesion among the newly constituted board," said NS President and CEO Mark George.
Also yesterday, NS announced that Jack Huffard, co-founder and director of Tenable Holdings Inc., has been appointed as chair of the Compensation and Talent Management Committee. The board has agreed to reduce its size to 12 members and remaining committee chairs will continue in their existing positions, NS officials said.
