HSBC Group, one of the world’s largest banks, recently recognized Alcatel Transport Automation Solutions for its role in Great Britain’s North Staffs Resignalling project.

Alcatel won a 2002 HSBC Rail Business Award for Infrastructure Excellence for supplying microprocessor-controlled, multiple-section axle counters for the project, designed to modernize Great Britain’s West Coast Main Line.

The modified line went back into operation in May 2002.

The awards have been presented by HSBC to the most successful products or services in the infrastructure sector of the British rail industry for the past five years, according to a prepared statement.
