• Gannett Fleming recently named Bryan Mulqueen vice president and manager of transit and rail for the firm’s Delmarva and Southeast regions. Mulqueen, who’ll be based in the firm’s Raleigh, N.C., office, has more than 20 years of experience managing “major transportation infrastructure programs and large multidisciplinary regional teams” for the firm, according to a prepared statement.

• On Dec. 13, longtime railroader Kevin Lawlor died following a battle with lung cancer. He was 68. After a stint with the New Haven Railroad, Lawlor served as a sales representative with ABEX Corp, and then Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Co. He also served as president at two companies — Chandeysson Electric and Speno — as well as a manufacturer’s rep for a firm that bore his name (Lawlor and Associates). Lawlor’s funeral mass “was well attended and followed by a typical Irish luncheon and Irish Stout Beer,” noted a friend who was able to attend. “He will be missed by all of us.”
