BLET, LIRR reach tentative labor agreement

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) has reached a tentative agreement with the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) that would affect pay rates and work rules for 400 locomotive engineers, the union announced yesterday.

Ratification ballots for the agreement were mailed to members yesterday. Voting will end Feb. 22.

The Metropolitan Transportation Administration reached an agreement with most LIRR unions last summer. But the railroad's locomotive engineers have continued to work without a contract.
