British Columbia officials this week invited two pre-qualified bidders to respond to a request for proposals (RFP) for the Surrey Langley SkyTrain project.
The RFP addresses the design, construction and financing of the elevated guideway, roadworks, utilities and active transportation elements of the project.
The two bidders are South Fraser Guideway Connectors, which consists of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc., Acciona Infrastructure Canada Inc., Pomerleau BC Inc. and Parsons Inc.; and SkyLink Guideway Partners, which consists of Dragados Canada Inc., Ledcor Investments Inc., Ledcor Mining Ltd. and Systra International Bridge Technologies Inc.
The final bidder will be announced in late fall 2023, provincial officials said.
The province also issued two RFPs in October and November 2022. The first seeks proposals for the construction of eight SkyTrain stations, including active transportation elements such as cycling and walking paths. The second RFP seeks proposals for the design, installation and integration of power, telecommunications and automatic controls systems, and supply and installation of trackwork.
Shortlisted bidders will be announced for those RFPs later this year, with contracts to be awarded in early 2024, provincial officials said.
The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project calls for extending the Expo Line by 10 miles on an elevated guideway from King George SkyTrain Station in Surrey to 203rd Street Station in Langley City. The entire project cost is estimated at nearly CA$4 billion. The federal government has committed CA$1.3 billion for the project, while the provincial government has committed CA$2.4 billion.
