Yesterday, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) board officially appointed Richard Rodriguez president to succeed Ron Huberman, who left the agency in January to take over as chief executive of Chicago Public Schools.

Rodriguez — who was recommended for the position by Mayor Richard Daley — most recently served as commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation. He previously was commissioner of the Department of Buildings and executive director of the Department of Construction and Permits.

CTA also named Karen Walker treasurer and chief financial officer. She most recently served as director of financial services for the Illinois Finance Authority. Walker previously held various positions at A.G. Edwards, Banc of America Securities, Merrill Lynch and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, in addition to operating her own financial services firm.
