advertisement
Today, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will start testing 5000-series prototype cars on the Yellow and Purple lines.
The cars currently are operating on the Pink Line and have been tested on the Brown, Orange, Blue, Green and Red lines.
The 10 cars must complete testing successfully on all eight lines before being added to the CTA fleet. The cars feature security cameras, event recorder systems, door sensors and new aisle-facing seating.
