As part of a concept study to determine the future North-Central leg of light-rail transit (LRT) in Calgary, Alberta, transit officials have been hosting open houses this month to solicit public opinion.

The study will determine a route for North-Central LRT; station locations and amenities such as transit-oriented development and park-and-ride lots; possible bus and rapid transit network connections, including the future Southeast LRT; pedestrian and cyclist needs; ridership and traffic projections; and projected costs and land implications, Calgary Transit officials said in a post on the agency's website.

One of six LRT lines in the city, the future North-Central LRT will help complete and tie into Calgary's existing LRT system, officials said. The North-Central LRT and the Southeast LRT lines do not yet have funding, they said.

Upcoming meetings will be held June 13 and 25-26.
