On May 20, San Diego’s North County Transit District (NCTD) will hold a public hearing to receive feedback on a proposed fare increase for its COASTER commuter-rail service.

The increase — the first proposed by NCTD in four years — is necessary to maintain current service levels, according to an agency statement. Fares would rise between 7 percent and 13 percent, and monthly passes would increase between 10 percent and 12.5 percent, depending on travel zone.
