Caltrain phasing out paper 8-ride tickets, monthly pass

Caltrain will no longer sell paper 8-ride tickets or the Caltrain monthly pass after Jan. 31 as the agency continues its transition to the Clipper card fare payment system.

Caltrain monthly passes also will be available only on the Clipper card starting in March. Paper one-way tickets, day passes and zone upgrade tickets will continue to be sold at Caltrain vending machines.

Clipper now is fully operational on Caltrain, as well as on five other San Francisco Bay area transit systems: Bay Area Rapid Transit, SamTrans, Municipal Railway, Golden Gate Transit and Ferry, and AC Transit. The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is set to start accepting Clipper cards in February.
