Caltrain last week shared its fall 2025 ridership survey results, which include an increase in overall rider satisfaction.
The 2025 Triennial Survey logged current rider satisfaction at 4.5 out of five, up from 4.1 in the previous survey in 2022, Caltrain officials said. More specifically, satisfaction with Caltrain's schedule was 4.1, up from 3.7; and on-time performance satisfaction was 4.4, up from 3.9.
The results are in line with rider satisfaction data from other surveys conducted since the commuter railroad launched its electrified service in fall 2024, Caltrain officials said.
Beyond rider satisfaction, the survey provides Caltrain with rider data, such as demographic information and the reasons for riding. Commutes still make up the majority of Caltrain's ridership, with most riders boarding two to three times per week, reflecting hybrid work schedules. The survey also showed increased use of Clipper as paper ticket usage falls off, Caltrain officials said.
