Chicago to study express service to O'Hare

Yesterday, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley announced the formation of a new O’Hare Express Blue Ribbon Committee to study the feasibility of establishing express train service between O’Hare International Airport and downtown Chicago. The committee also will identify a plan for developing the service, according to a prepared statement from the mayor’s office.

Lester Crown, chairman of Henry Crown and Co., will chair the committee, which includes 16 representatives from the transportation, business, construction and labor sectors. The members will review financing and downtown area terminus options, potential routes, implementation schedules and the amenities needed to make the service attractive to potential riders, according to the mayor's office.

The new express train service would complement, not replace, the Chicago Transit Authority's Blue Line service, the office stated.
