The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) announced yesterday that Advertising Vehicles Inc. will handle the sale of naming rights and advertising on Cincinnati Streetcar vehicles.The revenue generated from the sale will be used for streetcar operations, SORTA officials said in a press release.Naming rights are available for the entire streetcar system, which comprises five vehicles, under a long-term contract that includes additional promotional benefits. Advertising also will be sold for space on the streetcars not included in the naming rights contract. Companies can buy areas on the lower exterior side panels and designated interior spaces, including ceilings and floors, but the naming rights contractor can choose to purchase these spaces for an additional cost.Advertising sales on SORTA's bus system has generated more than $4.6 million over the past decade, averaging nearly $500,000 a year, agency officials said.
