The Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) Silver Line commuter-rail service will begin transporting passengers on Oct. 25, DART President and CEO Nadine Lee announced last week.
The 26-mile Silver Line links Plano, Richardson, Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, Coppell and Grapevine with Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The line features Stadler-built trains, new stations and convenient transfers to other transit, DART officials said in a press release.
DART will offer free rides across its entire light rail system and the Silver Line all day on Oct. 25, and the Silver Line will be free to ride from Oct. 25 through Nov. 8. DART also will host grand opening festivities at 10 Silver Line stations.
Construction on the Silver Line began in 2019, at an estimated cost of $2.1 billion, according to a local news report.
