DART completes Red Line extension six months ahead of schedule
advertisement
Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) officials plan to open at least one holiday gift a little early this year.
On Dec. 9, DART rail service will reach the Dallas suburbs of Plano and Richardson as the agency opens three new stations. DART completed the three-mile Red Line extension — to Bush Turnpike Station in north Richardson, Downtown Plano Station and Parker Road Station near East Plano Transit Center — six months ahead of schedule, according to a prepared statement. DART’s rail system now extends 44 miles and features 34 stations.
The station openings will mark the end of the first phase of an expansion project that has more than doubled DART’s six-year-old, 20-mile light-rail system.
