The first train operating on Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) Silver Line pulled into the station at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Oct. 25, marking the start of the new 26-mile commuter-rail service.
The rail service stops in seven cities — Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson and Plano — with a final connection at DFW Airport. Crossing the Texas counties of Collin, Dallas and Tarrant, the service is designed to improve accessibility to major employment and educational opportunities in the area. Opening festivities were held at several stations.
Passengers can ride the line for free through Nov. 8, DART officials have said in press releases.
Construction on the Silver Line began in 2019, at an estimated cost of $2.1 billion.
