Denton County transit agency nabs platinum award for financial transparency

The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) received the platinum award for financial transparency as part of the Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle program.

Launched by the state's Comptroller of Public Accounts in December 2009, the Leadership Circle award program recognizes local governments across the state that are working toward a high level of financial transparency, DCTA officials said in a press release.

To win the award, DCTA met additional criteria requirements and achieved 22 out of 23 points on the rating criteria.

In 2015, the Texas Comptroller added the platinum award level designation, which marks the highest attainable level for financial transparency.

From 2012 to 2014, DCTA received the silver ward, which was the second highest level attainable during that time period.

"We are proud to be recognized by the Texas Comptroller for the hard work DCTA has done to provide transparency to our community, passengers, stakeholders and partners," said Anna Mosqueda, DCTA's chief financial officer. "Receiving the Platinum Award displays our continuing commitment to providing transparency on all DCTA fiscal matters."

DCTA operates the A-train regional-rail service, which connects passengers in Denton County to Dallas Area Rapid Transit's Green Line at Trinity Mills in Carrollton, Texas, along with bus and shuttle routes.
