The Federal Transit Administration is soliciting proposals for $5 million in FTA Public Transportation Innovation Program funding for activities that support the deployment of research findings that benefit transit agencies.
According to the FTA's Technology Transfer (T2) Program notice of funding opportunity , the funds also will enhance U.S. manufacturing and help small businesses by improving their ability to build on prior research and commercialize innovations that apply to public transportation.
Grant funding could cover activities such as research, the purchase of necessary equipment or services, or the implementation of the research-based findings.
One cooperative agreement will be awarded for the full funding amount. Eligible applicants include public departments and agencies, state and local government entities, public transportation providers, private and nonprofit organizations, higher learning institutions and technical and community colleges.
Proposals are due Feb. 11, 2025. The purpose of the T2 program is to develop systems to deploy and adopt research results in the industry and support the production of U.S.-based technologies.
