The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) has received a $175,000 grant from the Cleveland Foundation’s Greater University Circle Initiative.

The agency will use the grant for three projects. First, it will use $100,000 to help improve transit-oriented development along the Red Line near the West Rapid Transit Station in the Ohio City neighborhood, GCRTA officials said in a prepared statement.

Second, $35,000 of the grant will fund a new pilot program with a large local employer to encourage the company’s employees to use GCRTA instead of their cars to get to work, they said.

Finally, the agency plans to use $40,000 for art and visual development around the future Mayfield Rapid Station.

Work on some of the projects will begin as soon as next spring, officials said.
