Gates elected chairman of northeastern Illinois RTA

Northeastern Illinois’ Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) recently elected John Gates Jr. chairman. He will serve until 2014.

Gates is chairman and chief executive officer of PortaeCo., a private investment company.

Until May 2010, he had served as chairman of the Metropolitan Pier and Exhibition Authority.
