Today, officials at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) will open a new Wareham Village Station on the CapeFLYER line.

A weekend rail service, CapeFLYER operates between Boston and Cape Cod from Memorial Day through Labor Day. It is operated by the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority, in collaboration with the MBTA.

In its 2013 inaugural season, CapeFLYER carried more than 16,500 passengers and generated $290,756 in fare revenue. In October 2013, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick announced plans for the new stop in Wareham Village.
