Maryland transit authorities to host open houses on Red Line light-rail project

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will host a series of open houses this fall — the first of which will be held on Thursday — as part of an effort to inform the public about the Baltimore Red Line's progress.

The five open houses will allow community members to get updates on the Red Line light-rail project schedule; see plans for corridor and station design, along with portals and traffic configuration; learn about plans for environmental projects and mitigation; provide comment on Art-in-Transit proposals and speak with the workforce development team about jobs and workforce training, MTA officials announced in a press release.

The events are an opportunity for the public to visualize how the Red Line will "transform" the Baltimore area, said MTA Administrator Robert Smith.

The 14.1-mile light-rail line will connect the areas of Woodlawn in Baltimore County, Edmondson Village, West Baltimore, downtown Baltimore, Harbor East, Fell's Point, Canton communities, and the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
