Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co. (MBCR) recently announced two executive appointments.

MBCR, which operates the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's commuter trains, named John Hogan chief transportation officer. He is responsible for management of all commuter-rail lines and train movement, including oversight of schedules, onboard staff and fare collection. Prior to his promotion, Hogan served as the railroad's director of safety and security.

The railroad also appointed William Gilbert to serve as director of quality. He'll implement and develop quality assurance and quality control plans and programs. Previously, Gilbert was quality manager at SERCO Inc. He also held positions in the aerospace industry, and was a captain in the U.S. Air Force.
