Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp. (Metra) recently dedicated its rehabilitated Barrington, Ill., station.

The station includes a larger waiting area, coffee vendor, ATM machine and restrooms, renovated parking lots, a new 39-space lot, electronic fare-collection boxes, and a sidewalk with lights and landscaping.

Metra also rebuilt the inbound and outbound platforms, and added new lighting and a canopy with shelters.

More than 1,700 people daily board Metra trains at the Barrington station.

The $3.7 million project was funded by Federal Transit Administration, Illinois Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation Authority, Metra and the village of Barrington.
