Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario (IO) last week announced a settlement agreement worth CA$325 million with Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) that resolves claims on the Eglinton Crosstown Line project in Toronto.

The settlement addresses certain impacts on the project — including COVID-19 concerns, technical issues and  a structural defect at the Eglinton Line 1 station — that delayed the project's advancement.

Under the settlement, CTS is prevented from making future claims on multiple issues now considered fully settled, Metrolinx and IO officials said in a press release. Metrolinx and IO will continue to disagree with any finding of claim entitlement for COVID causes under the CTS project agreement and are appealing a recent court decision.

The settlement also calls for CTS to substantially complete the project's construction and systems scope by September 2022.

When completed, the Eglinton Crosstown Line will be a 12-mile light-rail transit line that will provide direct connections to Toronto Transit Commission subway, GO Transit and UP Express lines.
