Metrolinx, the Ontario government and Infrastructure Ontario have released a request for proposals (RFP) to four short-listed teams to build the nearly two-mile Air Rail Link (ARL) line and a new ARL passenger station.

The ARL will provide express rail service between Toronto Union Station and Toronto Pearson International Airport. The extension will branch off from the GO Transit Georgetown rail corridor and connect to the airport, where a new station will be built at the Terminal 1 parking structure.

The bidders include: AirLink Group comprising SNC Lavalin; AirLINX Transit Partners, comprising Aecon Construction and Materials Ltd. and Dufferin Construction Co.; Pearson Express, comprising Flatiron Construction Canada and Laing O’Rourke; and Toronto Railway Airport, comprising EllisDon Corp., ACS Infrastructure Canada and Fengate.

Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx plan to evaluate the RFPs, select a preferred proposal, negotiate a contract and announce the winning team in early 2012.
