advertisement
Next month, the Twin Cities' Metropolitan Council will hold several public hearings to review proposed fares for the Northstar Corridor.
Scheduled to open in late 2009, the 40-mile commuter-rail line will run from Big Lake to downtown Minneapolis. The council's Transportation Committee recently approved fares that would be priced according to a tier system based on the trip distance from downtown Minneapolis.
Proposed fares include: $7.50 from Big Lake, $5.50 from Elk River, $4 from Anoka, $4 from Coon Rapids and $3.25 from Fridley. The fare for passengers traveling between stations, but not going downtown, would be $3.25.
