Hennepin County and the Metropolitan Council later this month will host a series of open houses aimed at providing more information on an environmental analysis conducted for Metro Transit's METRO Blue Line light-rail extension.

Meetings are scheduled to begin Oct. 19 in each city along the proposed 13-mile route.

The extension would run northwest from downtown Minneapolis through Golden Valley, Robbinsdale, Crystal and Brooklyn Park, Minn., according to the project's website.

Metropolitan Council officials will brief community members on the environmental impacts of the line, as well as the schedule for completing environmental documentation. Additionally, the council will take feedback from the community and provide the latest information on the line's design and station area plans.
