New Jersey Transit yesterday announced the completion of an exterior renovation project at Mahwah Station, in Bergen County, New Jersey.
The completion of the project marks a milestone in a larger multistation renovation program intended to improve customer experience.
Crews replaced the station's roof, retaining wall and a stairway; installed new architectural railings; relocated electrical equipment and improved site drainage, NJ Transit officials said in a press release.
Additional exterior improvements include minor lighting upgrades, refurbished stairs, patrial stucco and brick repairs and newly installed information displays.
NJ Transit's Bergen County and Main lines stop at Mahwah Station. The total cost of the renovation project was not included in the press release.
"Mahwah Station is already offering our customers a safer, more welcoming and more inviting space," said NJ Transit President and CEO Kris Kolluri. "It’s just one example of over 20 NJ Transit station projects currently in progress, all aimed at strengthening the customer experience through thoughtful, long-term investment."
