The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) recently launched a revamped Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) Web site and PATH Tweet, a Twitter pilot program.

The Web Site now enables riders to more easily access schedules and destination information, and learn about changes and upgrades to the PATH system, including the addition of 340 new passenger cars.

Also, riders can follow PANYNJ’s PATH Twitter account to obtain information on service and events, in addition to receiving electronic alerts on their mobile device or via email.

Meanwhile, Miami-Dade Transit launched a program that enables riders to receive electronic alerts about rail and bus service delays.

The “Rider Alert” system sends messages regarding Metrorail, Metromover or bus service interruptions via email or text message. Riders also can receive notifications on the operational status of Metrorail or Metromover station elevators and escalators.
