The Mid-Region Council of Governments and New Mexico Department of Transportation recently placed a $22 million order with Bombardier Transportation for commuter-rail vehicles. The vehicles would operate on a line between Belen and Bernalillo, N.M.

Bombardier will design, build and deliver 10 bi-level commuter-rail vehicles, six cab cars and four coaches. Expected to be delivered in summer 2005, the vehicles will be built at Bombardier’s Thunder Bay, Ontario, plant.
