The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) on May 17 will begin operating seven-day service on all four Port Authority Trans-Hudson lines for the first time in 25 years.

The increased service, as well as broadened fare payment options, follow the completion of PANYNJ's two-year, $430 million PATH Forward program, PANYNJ officials said in a press release. Throughout the program, crews replaced more than 15,000 feet of track and installed three new rail switch systems, renovated stations and updated rail cars.

"These game-changing service enhancements and improved fare payment options are continuing to provide more frequent and reliable service to our customers," said PATH Director and General Manager Clarelle DeGraffe.

Direct Journal Square-33rd Steet service will operate between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekends, and direct Hoboken–World Trade Center service will resume on weekends for the first time in nearly 25 years, PANYNJ officials said. Weekend service will also operate on the Hoboken–33rd Steet line. The Journal Square–33rd Steet and Hoboken–33rd Steet lines will run every 10 minutes; Hoboken–World Trade Center service will run every 20 minutes.

Along with the increased service frequency comes a fare increase of 25 cents, which was approved last December.
