The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is asking for public feedback on potential improvements to a passenger-rail line running from Harrisburg to Pittsburgh. The proposed improvements, spelled out in a PennDOT feasibility report, aim to decrease rail travel times and increase trip frequency.

Depending on the extent of improvements, the plan could cost $1.5 billion to $38.3 billion, according to the study.

The department will continue to accept public feedback on the study through March 31.

"The study has shown that there are significant challenges to improving this service and public feedback will be a valuable complement to these findings," said Acting PennDOT Secretary Leslie Richards in a prepared statement.
