RailWorks Corp. and L.K. Comstock National Transit have been selected to rehabilitate the Metro Transit Blue Line in Minneapolis.

The companies will upgrade the track and signals systems on the line, particularly near the Mall of America, RailWorks officials said in a press release.

RailWorks will replace nearly 3,200 feet of embedded track and more than 2,000 feet of ballasted track; remove and replace crossovers; tamp nearly 4,800 track feet; and install insulated joints.

L.K. Comstock will provide the final design and construction of systems work, including demolition and installation of the OCS system; replacement, upgrade and installation of the signal system; and complete testing and certification work of the project.

The project, which includes three stations and two interlocking locations, is set to be completed this year.
