The Rocky Mountaineer launched its maiden voyage in Colorado on Aug. 15.
Known as Rockies to the Red Rocks, the new route joins the luxury passenger railroad's three offerings in western Canada that run between Vancouver and the towns of Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper. The Colorado route travels through several regions of the state and canyon country in southern Utah.
After leaving Denver, the Rockies to the Red Rocks train stops overnight in Glenwood Springs and then continues into Utah with a final stop in Moab.
The Rockies to the Red Rocks' inaugural season runs through Nov. 19 with 56 trips through the Rocky Mountains. Rocky Mountaineer is planning a seven-month season for the route in 2022.
