The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) last week announced that it is working with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission to provide travel alternatives for commuters during reconstruction of Interstate 95.

To accommodate a potential influx of riders during interstate construction, SEPTA today is adding capacity and increasing train frequency on the Trenton and West Trenton lines, SEPTA officials said in a press release.

SEPTA has leased five rail cars from the Maryland Area Regional Commuter Rail system to increase capacity. For both the morning and evening commutes, SEPTA will add nearly 1,900 seats on the Trenton and West Trenton Lines.

"We are encouraging commuters who normally drive on I-95 to give SEPTA a try during the construction project," said SEPTA General Manager Jeffrey Knueppel.
