Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is doing its best to avoid a slippery situation. The authority recently mounted high-pressure washers on trains and trucks to clean leaves and subsequent oily reside from tracks.

Leaves make tracks slick, resulting in service delays. Expected to help minimize those delays, the pressure washers discharge water at 5,000 pounds per square inch.

SEPTA also plans to continue applying compressed sand dollars and traction-enhancing gel to tracks overnight, and operating track scrubbers that remove leaves and oil.
