San Mateo transit agency seeks input on transportation improvements

The San Mateo County Transit District (SMCTD) has launched a public engagement and education campaign to share information about solutions to the county's growing traffic problems.
Known as "Get Us Moving," the campaign also is designed to gather community feedback about proposed solutions.
The agency has convened dozens of public officials and community leaders to discuss ideas for relieving traffic congestion and ensuring residents have access to a range of transportation choices, SMCTD officials said in a press release.
A recently passed law in the California Legislature allows the district and county to ask voters to approve a half-cent sales tax for countywide transportation improvements.
"We know that solving our traffic problems must be a community-driven process and we want to hear what San Mateo County residents think about potential solutions," said the SMCTD's General Manager Jim Hartnett.
The district also has launched a website where residents can fill out a survey about transportation improvements.
