Tri-Rail averaged 15,000 riders per weekday last month, marking the first time the average weekday ridership exceeded 14,000 riders since before the pandemic began, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) announced today.
Until last month, the commuter-rail service hadn't regularly averaged weekday ridership of 15,000 daily rides since February 2020, SFRTA officials said in a press release. SFRTA is the operating agency for Tri-Rail.
Tri-Rail services also experienced the highest average for weekend ridership last month, nearing 8,000 passengers on Saturdays and Sundays.
"We are super excited that more and more people are realizing the value that Tri-Rail provides to our communities," said SFRTA Executive Director David Dech.
Tri-Rail recently expanded service by including a stop at MiamiCentral Station, providing passengers with a new connection to downtown Miami. The service was introduced Jan. 13.
