Ridership on the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon’s (TriMet) rail and bus services totaled 8.1 million trips in November, up more than 2 percent compared with the same month a year earlier.

Rush-hour trips on the MAX light-rail, WES commuter-rail and bus services increased 4 percent, TriMet officials said in a prepared statement.

For 17 of the past 18 months, WES has posted double-digit increases, while the MAX Green Line “continued to make strong gains,” with weekday trips up nearly 10 percent,” they said.

Last month, WES’ weekday/rush-hour trips soared 18.5 percent to 1,600 and weekly trips jumped 18.7 percent to 8,000.

On the MAX, weekly trips were flat at 766,100 and weekend trips dipped 1.3 percent to 141,600, but weekday trips rose 1 percent to 124,900 and rush-hour trips climbed 4.6 percent to 38,300.

On the MAX Green Line, weekday trips increased 9.7 percent to 23,800 and weekend trips rose 5.2 percent to 24,200.
